What is BIS Hallmark?
BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) Hallmarking is a system that certifies the purity of gold jewellery. It is the only way to ensure that you are buying genuine gold.
Components of a Hallmark
A legitimate BIS Hallmark on gold jewellery consists of three marks:
- BIS Logo: A triangular mark indicating that the purity is verified by a BIS licensed lab.
- Purity Grade: Indicates the fineness of gold (e.g., 22K916, 18K750, 14K585).
- HUID Code: A 6-digit alphanumeric code unique to each piece of jewellery, ensuring traceability.
Diamond Certification
While Hallmarking is for gold, diamond certification is provided by independent gemological laboratories. MJK.Jewellers uses certifications from:
- IGI (International Gemological Institute)
- GIA (Gemological Institute of America)
- SGL (Solitaire Gemological Laboratories)
